I picked up this burning bush (euonymus alatus compactus) in a local hardware store almost for free. The trunk has nice taper, and as far as I could dug down there is a good start for a cool nebari too. I came up with a virt about what I think it could become in about 7-10 years. It requires to chop it back low and take out the middle trunk which concerns me a bit.
What do you guys think about it?

I'm glad to see you removed that center trunk. :) I think you are starting in the right direction - just make sure to wire your growth when young so you don't end up with other straight awkward sections.
Haven't removed yet, I'll do so in spring. Thank you for the advice, I'll follow it! :)

Another tip: may emit, loud, booming voice!

🤣

Seriously though, nice tree/plan!

I like these trees a TON. Such distinctive bark and color.

I agree. I have two other BB starting material and all three of them had beautiful fall colors

I’m glad you jumped in the pool. I love these. I have one in the landscape and found a section already set up for broom style. It’s marked for air layer next spring.

Also. I repot every year. They consistently fill the pot with fine roots every year.
Yesterday it had the first repotting/bare rooting. You are right, the pot was filled with fine roots. I cut off the bottom 2/3 with a saw, bit still it took more than 3 hours to untangle the roots and wash out the dirt. It was a nightmare but as I got along it turned out the nebari is even better than I expected so I felt rewarded for my efforts. The whole thing looks like a slingshot at the moment, but I have the vision :)
