Absolutely! My first border collie I had when I was a little younger and she would go out with me when I was training for a marathon. 10 miles, 15 miles, 20 miles... I'd run out 10 miles, then throw a tennis ball BACKWARDS as I was running so she had to run back, get it, and run to catch up to me
Rocket is awesome. When he goes bike-riding with me I have him trained so he leads on the uphills and follows on the downhills. He also runs with me on Fridays when I do short 5 milers on the ridgeline with a friend. My friend LOVES running with the dog - he always comments "you have your own workout partner right here!" Rocket ignores EVERYONE and EVERYTHING but the run. Dogs, people, rabbits, squirrels... it doesn't matter. If he is running he is always 20 feet in front of me - no distractions allowed
My other dog (currently) is an Aussie, but she is more in it for the food
A GREAT family dog, but I think I would have to be a hot dog for her to TRULY love me
