I took pictures of this tree specifically for Will. This tree was standing just inside the entrance to the exhibit. The exhibit venue contains a foyer that they have some of the best redwoods I have ever seen on display. Hey, this is the Redwood Empire Bonsai Society, REBS. There has to be redwoods.

This tree I took pictures of for Will is not a redwood but it was beautiful never the less.

The tree stands on a square pedestal and on a large square cascade stand. It was displayed very well for a pedestal. A person could walk around the tree and view it from any angle. I took shots of the tree from the four sides of the stand.

Enjoy

I might be wrong,

But this tree really looks like the one I saw in Anaheim, at the GSBF convention about 4 years ago. It was up for sale by one of the vendors, and was sold for around $5,000. I remember talking to the new buyer, but never asked his name.

Again, I might be wrong, but the tree has an eerie resemblance to the one I saw there, at it was right about this size. I remember thinking "gee, that nebari is so huge, I don't know...".

But it is entirely a matter of taste, and an outstanding tree, nevertheless.

It would help if you could finish that thought...;)

I have been racking my brain just wondering what you may have said after those dots...

You got something against fat bottoms? :D :D :D :D

Four years ago, 2003, the convention was in Fresno. Then Sacramento, then Woodland Hills and then Sacramento last year. Sacramento was host in 2002. Woodland Hills in 2001. Bay area in 2000. The last Anaheim convention I remember was 1999 I think. That was when John Naka did Goshin II. Marc Noelanders was the headliner.

Hey, just like with women,
I would rather have someone else say it. I am just scratching my head, not sure what to say. I love nebari, but...

For those of you that are wondering why Al called this picture a special gift gfor me, it has to do with a couple of the most debated articles I have wrote. The first published in Bonsai Today can be seen here and a follow up refining some of the reasoning can be seen here.

Thanks again Al,
