Got myself an early Christmas present.
Anyone know where I can get a partridge?

Man, that has a really nice base. Did you dig this out of the neighbors yard? It looks big. Not too tall but fat.

Send the tree to Fresno CA. care of: Al Keppler, and I will personaly have it fitted for a partridge. Getting it back may become a problem.......We have partridge boarers and it may need quaranteen for 20 or more years.

No digging required. Bought it from Scott at Lotus Bonsai. (he's got more).
Its is big about 10-12" at the base and about 30" tall.

Thanks for the offer, Al. But I'll keep it partridge or not.

Wow! Scott does a great job with those! Great base, great taper and the bark is looking good to boot.

Don't know for sure but you're probably right. Maybe a Bradford?

looks bradfordy to me too .... they have great bark but weak crotches and tend to want to grow very vase like.... color is wonderful and the fruit has a great scale... make sure you wire branches while pretty young they can get brittle.... they back bud extremely well but no always where you want and they sucker often so make sure you remove those as the buds appear....

beautiful tree!!! I love mine especially in fall! (hasn't flowered yet)

Really looks more like a fruiting than a callery; by the more lance vs. spade shape of the leaves and how they appear on short spurs. A guess, but nice either way.

Some of the others still had small round fruit like a Bradford.
