So totally didn´t plan on this but a website we ordered an outside table and brolly from also had some Mistral malsai on their site listed. Most of it is rubbish and of little interest to me but they had these Ash prebonsai which was different so I chucked one in the basket.

It´s healthy at least but Mistral are a pig of a company, it was in a tiny pot all root bound and while it has a reasonable base and girth to the trunk it´s a bulging jungle under there pretty sure there is some reverse taper and what not.
Needs a good clean out but I´ll wait until I know it´s still healthy as I slipped potted it today.

So.. spent the day working at the bonsai nursery, because I needed to ittoigawa whips for grafting. Ended up with some tools in my pocket and pruning a dozen trees while there.. 🤪

An nooo I did not forget my ittoigawa whips. But when I got home I noticed a fairly large mature deshojo in my car. Had been wondering what was blocking my rear vriew mirror and windows. Lots of work, as the main trunk died back a few years back, and the side branches are overgrown. Tomorrow pictures, repotting, trimming and pulling some branches out.

Wife and I have been going through a REALLY rough time lately. I'm stay with my dad, and we've hardly had a civil interaction in a week.
But taking the kids home from the babysitter the other day I find my wife's latest yard sale find on the front steps.

They're nothing impressive, but I know she'd never buy pots for herself.
I almost cried.

We're going on our 20th year of that shit!

Pass the oar brother!

My blessings or wishes, whatever you may accept best!

Leave out the nothing. Looks like the door is open for conversation.
Not sure what you are going through. A thing to keep in mind going forward perhaps.. You cannot change anybody, except for yourself. As such it is not worth trying to change someone else.

Good luck.

I normally wouldn't have bought this but my daughter is working her first summer job at our local nursery...I spend even more time there now than I used too!

Ulmus parvifolia 'Hokkaido' in a @sorce pot.

They had seiju too so I'm sure I'll have one of them soon...it's going to be a long summer filled with nursery trips for me, I'm afraid...

I did pick up a seiju on today's trip to the nursery my daughter's working at for the summer.

Another tree that I would never have bought except I needed something to buy to help my daughter earn her keep ;)

...and the hakkaido I bought last time needed a friend...

Both are @sorce pots.

I'm not really planning to develop these beyond just hopefully keeping them alive :D

Love the pot. I think @sorce made a mistake, should have been my pot!

On Friday I should receive the older (2005 era) Kinbon book on Japanese maple and beech
As of this morning, I'm just 4 books short of the whole series. They're rather well-made and full of interesting information.

I saw and fell in love with the Buergerianum cultivar, “Tancho” this past year.. i LOVE trident foliage.. and “tancho” is trident foliage, curling inward.. SO NEAT (in my opinion).1618933739714.jpeg

So seeing as it is nearing my two-year “dry” milestone.. and just passed my four-year CLEAN... my mom gave me a 100 gift card and told me to by a couple trees..

So I found two good deals..

One on a 1 Gallon Ficus Pumulla.. dirt cheap..

Then a 1-gallon Acer B. ‘Tancho” .. dirt cheap.. with the plans to layer (if grafted)

🤓

Congratulations! It's hard work that never ends. You've earned it!
