My long time friend and mentor is 99 and moving to a memory care facility. He wanted all of his trees to go to club members and we were each allowed to buy one of his trees. I got this old Japanese snowbell, styrax japonica that he had over 25 years.View attachment 383567
What a nice way to keep his legacy going.

Repotting season is fast approaching here so I decided I needed to get myself prepared ... with a new pot or two...
Pots AB_04.jpg
The 2 on the left are from Marie Hewartson (aussie potter), next to those in front is a Murrumbung Ceramics/Bonsai Island collaboration (aussie potter also), centre at the back are 2 Roman Husmann rounds (German), and the remaining 4 on the right are all Walsall Sudio Ceramics pieces (UK) ...
Once you start, it can be kinda hard to stop yourself saying "Mmmm ... maybe one more ..."

Oh bless him and his family. What a special tree each of you acquired. Very nice this one. Extra special.

Finally settled on pop up professional photography backdrops as my backdrop for taking photos. After talking with a professional photographer...and picking their brain. A more mobile with stand would be ideal for say...not needing to move the ryusen where it sits...pop up the stand behind it and take a photo with a professional backdrop. It also folds up and goes into a storage bag. I was going to order a retractable blind. So many use them...but when my greenhouse is full. It will not permit me to take images with it. Super excited that I finally just buckled down and got something...Now...To eventually add some lighting for indoor use. But I wish to really speak to them more in depth...as to what I may need.

Pots are not exactly a purchase but my first hand made collection of bonsai pots is ready to be auctioned at k-w bonsai society
Many here helped me learn about proper drainage and tie down holes, thank you!

One of the latest purchases is the boxwood, it was so fun turning a bush into a vision and repotting into a box where it will grow for some time

When a pot makes you (((GASP))) ... You buy it! JM Pottery was listed as the potter. I have no idea what I will plant in it. But...I can't imagine not having it. I was looking up horsehair bonsai pot. This of course is a peacock's feather. So unique! 8 1/2" pot. But I wanted it...

DISCLAIMER: I did NOT buy this. We're on vacation and were headed out for the day when we saw this sign and I am not even kidding a guy in a white van. Of course we stopped. Like I figured, he had a bunch of Junipers. Now, I have no interest in Junipers whatsoever and tried to hurry my husband along. But he had one in his hand he thought "looked cool" and bought it for me. 🙁 I guess now I have a Juniper, tiny though it is. sign.jpgjuniper.jpg

Obligatory:

It needs to live outside!

Plant it in the ground if you want to thicken the trunk!
