Collected from an Old Farm house as a foundation planting in northern Michigan.
I think it’s important that you state that. “Collected” implies to most people that the tree was collected from the wild. The word “yamadori” means “from the mountains”.

A tree dug up from a foundation planting is not the same as a yamadori. It can still be a nice tree, but I think it’s only fair to describe it more accurately.

In the ebay listing I said "collected from an old landscape". Ill edit it to be more clear.

Let it ride.
Collected is collected.
Well… not exactly.

A wild tree would never have been artificially pruned or shaped.

A landscape tree might have been. Especially if it had been a part of a hedge.

I guess my concern is that newbies might misunderstand what it is they’re buying. There are some amazing Yamadori Mugo in Europe, where they are native. But there are no yamadori Mugo in North America.

But the tree does appear to have some age and potential. I hope it goes to a good home.

I don't think people buy it because of the word collect from the mountain or an abandoned lot. The pictures is what sold here. If there is no pics then description will be much more relevant.

I agree.

I’m not saying anyone has done anything wrong here. Just having a discussion.

I hope whoever gets this tree enjoys it, and turns it into a fantastic bonsai!
