Or too little.
Whats going on here? Dehydration?
Or just some shipment bends from USPS in the box?Them 3” stonewool cubes will be bone dry in just over 24 hrs……water, water, water!!!!
Or will suffer root loss.

Those bends are from sitting in the box. No worry here. They are slowly "corecting" themselves.

Speaking of bougainvillea, I dried the flowers from the last big show this one did last winter, and gave them to my neighbor - he's a crafty old guy, and made a wreath.

He was selling it at a little home craft same he did this spring:

A little air layer on my bougainvillea. The base is half dead, so saving some pieces (only one of my cuttings have taken).

I can see one root at least:

Thanks, I'm thinking I may try my hand at neagari for the air layer.
Here goes nothing. Weren't as many roots in there as I expected, so not getting my hopes up. Maybe I'll throw a bag over it to keep the humidity up.

Roots are extending after separation, good sign. I did put a bag over it to keep humidity up, leaves are much happier.

Original plant after separation. Hope to find some time to repot it soon. It's in a normal houseplant planter, if like to get it into something shallower.

It is! Will detract from a pink flowered plant, but I still think it will look nice. It will never really be more than a nice winter home office bonsai wannabe anyway.
I don't think it will detract from the flowers at all, I think it will accent them. Nice.

Neighbor ripped out all the landscaping in their front yard. Didn't make it in time to ask them to keep some foliage on the two large yews, but I got another weigela.

No love lost if it doesn't survive, it was going to the dump anyway.

Didn't have much time today to do anything but pot it up. Need to figure out what parts are still alive on it.

How it came out:

Washed and flattened:

Potted:

Whole thing is almost completely hollow. Have some choices to make it it survives.

I've posted this before, but it's one of the first trees I decided to try - fell into the DAS trap.

Started as a Christmas tree in a red pot, then planted in our landscape for a few years.

Dug it up April 2020, thinned a bit over time, and just attempted some initial structural wiring. I know everything will probably spring back up, but it was fun, and good practice.

Haven't wired the very top, or done any smaller detail wiring.

Current plan:

1. Figure out if I want to keep the apex, or jin it and start a new one (there are a lot of bulges at the whorls towards the top). The branch with the bag over it in the last pic would probably be the new one.

2. Chase foliage back.

Sorry I didn't get it in front of solid backgrounds (in the recent ones it's been growing into the ground a bit).
