If the water vapor can't escape the bag the humidity in the bag will be in the high 90's% and transpiration slows down greatly. Wet a plant normally, put it in a clear bag, blow it up with you breath, seal it, put it where it gets a couple hours of indirect sunlight and watch the atmosphere equalize and form a film of moisture on the inside surface. It can stay like that for some weeks. A grey mold will form on some surfaces, but that's not as bad as it looks and washes off well enough.

I have shipped many tropicals back from FL to Detroit like that, in winter, bare-rooted, and never had a problem. If the moisture level is trapped the whole process slows down to nothing. UPS parcels go from terminal-to-terminal and the closed trucks on the road stay just warm enough in the sun to prevent damage to plants in the 3 or 4 days in-transit.

I probably would sell this. Not sure it would make the journey. It’s a real water hound. It can’t go more than a day without water, even in the winter months.
They garden center ones I have are the same, they have to be watered twice a day in the summer. I almost lost one when I was on vacation and it didn't get watered for a day. It has since bounced back. That one of yours sure is a nice.

The sumac inspired me to take a walk in Illinois Beach State Park, and see the bigger, wild stands of staghorn sumac growing in the prairie.

Sumac, and aster, shade and a different one in direct sun

Lake Michigan. it is roughly 90 miles across at this point. Average depth is 300 feet once you are beyond 5 miles off shore. The length of the lake is around 450 miles, give or take. I believe it is the 5th or 6th largest freshwater lake in the world. I count myself lucky to live within 3 miles of this lake and this state park.

Looking northeast towards Kenosha Harbor, that is the harbor breakwater in the far left distance.

Last evening primrose flower of the summer, the normally upright stem is laying flat on the ground and just one flower is left blooming.

Its Solidago time, the goldenrod is in full bloom

Monarch butterfly migration is in full swing. They love the goldenrod, refueling on its nectar for the next leg of the trip.

Beautiful day. It was a pleasant walk. Today thunder, lightning and heavy rain, which is why I am taking the time to post photos.

Likely these are my last photos for at least awhile due to another eye surgery. Hopefully this will turn out to be the big fix! I’ll look forward to seeing everyone’s posts for the next couple weeks.

Cheers
