I first met him in the mid 90's when he used to come up for the MidWest Bonsai Exhibition at the Chicago Botanic Gardens. We've been exchanging emails recently because I'm hoping to come up for a visit.

Thanks for sharing this. I bought two pre-bonsai tridents from him this year, and spent a fair amount of time speaking with him on the phone about all sorts of stuff. I am grateful for that. I can’t wait to honor him by making those barky tridents into something spectacular.

Guess I better plan on a trip. He's about 3-1/2 - 4 hours away.
Talked to him on the phone last spring and then life+ got in the way. He was very gracious.

Would love to visit his garden one day. Talked to him on phone he seemed excited to sell one of his persimmon to someone new to the journey.
