Nice. One of mine didn't show any signs of life until sometime in June. My big one in the landscape is always the last thing in the yard/garden to wake up.It’s pushing new growth now.
So bizarre, June really?Nice. One of mine didn't show any signs of life until sometime in June. My big one in the landscape is always the last thing in the yard/garden to wake up.
YepSo bizarre, June really?
Next year. Will build some branches this year.Looks good! How much longer are you going to keep it in that container?
I like the movement! Looks like the nebari is nice. Have you revealed more of it to see?Next year. Will build some branches this year.
This reminds me of an elm I bought. Almost exactly. I don’t have a pic but I though that the nebari was right under the soil line because I saw that flare. Once I went to reveal it I had made a big mistake. It was actually just a kink in the trunk with reverse taper and the actual nebari was 4 more inches under the soil line. Now I have to do an air layer on the trunk to salvage all my two years of development or start over. I’ll never assume I know about the nebari again. You should reveal it just so you know exactly what your working with. Specially if you plan to put in a bonsai pot the following year. Imagine going to put it in a pot and realizing the nebari is further down or it doesn’t look good with what you’ve been developing. But as far as the development on your tree. There are several ways to take care of the reverse taper. But personally on your tree it doesn’t really bother me. It looks good! Not yet. Just letting grow for now. I should probably cut this off as it’s starting to show some reverse taper.
May be not.

My crape is always the last thing to wake up, I think it was June last year.
There is no sign of life in mine, yet.
