Who collected when? Most interesting tree of good potential😊. Do you subscribe to Mirai Live. Several EXCELLENT Ponderosa live streams there.

He delivered personally? How very cool☺️. Personally guess you indeed "know" of Mirai Live🤣. Am most looking forward to see how you grow this excellent tree.

This guy seems to be happy and acclimating well in Southern CA.
With the healthy response, I might plan on repotting it this coming Autumn.

Awesome ponderosa! Hope it does well for you in SoCal. Have heard some have a rough time with them after 3-4 years of warm winters. It’s a great potential, hope it thrives for you!

All my love for SoCal bonsai peeps. You have your USDA Zone listed as 7B. The only 7B I know of in SoCal is up around Idyllwild... or Big Bear. If that is the case, I don't think your Ponderosa will have problems. If you're down by the beach, it may struggle.

Thanks man! My place is just below 6,000 ft. And we do get snow during the winter time, so I’m hoping this guy will be ok. The longest Yamadori I have so far just passed 7 years with me so I hope I’m in the clear.

Thank you so much! Shhhh don’t give away my location! Hahahaha. I’m a bit north-west of Big Bear. Sounds like you’re familiar with the place.

Sounds pretty ideal, I was thinking “Southern California” palm trees and the beach 😂

I want a ponderosa, but I know they’ll suffer in my warm winter down here. Looking forward to your progress with this one.

Thanks so much! To be honest, I was hesitant myself a few years ago. But I really wanted to start working on native pine specimens. What I came to learn the past few years is that the elevation makes a huge difference.

I lived there for 24 years :) Used to mountain bike a lot in the area... plus Big Bear with the kids for snow sports :)

How long out of collection? Fall 22(or any Fall for that matter)may be too soon. Not a lot of needles yet. Pollen cones may be stress response saying "HELP", I'm not ready or strong yet. Tough trees but personally prefer to wait longer on such valuable trees;). Did you get age estimate on this tree?

Got it. I also frequent Big Bear for snowboarding. I live by the other snow resort in the area - Mt. High... Now that I think of it, I don't think I've been to Big Bear during summer time to try their bike paths - I heard they're great!
