So the county is taking my house through Eminent Domain, I already have the plans summited to the blding dept to build a new one but i have lived here for 17 years, there's woods behinds my house I can hunt and fish in so its been a really nice ride, oh well; on to something new. I'm also fairly new into bonsai and ground planted some stuff around my house. The two things that interest me the most are a trident maple and a two needle pine that the locals call a sand pine. I got about 6 months b4 I got to leave so probably sept or oct. When should I dig these trees up, I'm sure the maple probably doesn't care but I'd like to do it correctly, the pines gonna be a different story, its tough to get one of them to transplant, the ones I've put in a container all died but this ones doing OK, not great but OK, its pushing candles on the top branches so it's growing. I planted it on a tile so it should be easy to dig. Isn't there a somewhat dormant part sometime in the heat of the summer or should I wait as long as possible which would be early fall, not sure if they are going into containers or back into the ground at my new spot. Also cuz I live on the coast of Florida I'm thinking these pines might be double flush pines, how would I determine that, does something have to disturb the first flush to get the second?

Skip the sand pine. Not worth the effort...The trident could be dug up now, if you can get most of the roots and transfer it into a largish growing container. It's small, so you should be able to do that.

I like your attitude about it, but I'd push for free usage of whatever it is their building. Unless it's something useless like a Planet Fitness.

I was carrying moss home today in an upturned palm and thought about adding it to this Gardener's winter workout routine I'm planning.

I wrote a paper in college on Kelo vs New London, CT- the Supreme Court case that introduced this sort of nonsense- and it pisses me off every time I hear about it.
Here there's an upper class subdivision on the south end of town called Dawson's Ranch. Why that name? It used to be a cattle ranch owned by a family named Dawson, family owned and operated for over 100 years. The city seized the land- under heavy protest from the family and the community- and immediately sold it to a developer at a massive profit, and now there are thousands of McMansions that were hastily built on crumbling foundations in order to maximize fast returns during the housing bubble in the 2000s.
Also has the only roads in town that get plowed when it snows. Not the roads by the schools, or the hospital, or even the major intersections in town, but they'll plow snob hill.

Hehe.. water vessels and or other heavy items coupled with angles to sit your body at is all you really need..

And then... the whole planet.... is YOUR "planet fitness"..

You learn different routines when you're closed in small areas for... let's say 18 months.

I agree, also, with RockM... I'd just dig Trident... and I'd do it now.

...I feel I'd be MUCH more "Donkey/Mule-like"
about the whole situation... I TRY to remain passive... but "rights" and "human oppression (no matter how minute)" are hot-button issues that'll turn me into a screaming David Lee Roth character.

How long would it take you to get some bones and shards buried? Get them from a roadside museum so they'd have age.

The Indian stuff is a good idea, they stopped a Red Lobster from being built in my area when I was younger for that same reason. This is kinda an odd situation were I was actually going to rebuild anyways, my building plans were already summited when I got the news otherwise I probably would have been devastated. But as it is: if they do indeed offer me a fair market value it would actually be a good thing. Save me time and relator fees selling the house. The problem is I have never seen the county do anything fairly, they got a bunch of big shot lawyers and I suspect before its over I will too.
I would like to give the plants all summer to grow in the ground as they seem to have acclimated to it, seems like if I dig them up now I could loose a summer of growth but I certainly don't know. If that's what everyone suggests I'm sure I will go ahead and dig them up now.
