This is the second curbsia Yew picked up this year, although, in my mind, not of the quality of the first, I still see some possibilities here but would like to hear thoughts from others as well.

Will at the worst it can be $30 saved on landscape material. I did that with a few, even a rhody at about 400 lbs. I grab em, then evaluate later. At least these can be pushed back fairly easily.

Will, A well known Brit once said to me many years ago when I presented a piece of material similar to yours. " it will take longer to push back any growth and train the tree, than to take the lowest piece of foliage and build your tree exactly the way you want it" He was right with that comment.

So I offer my suggestion to you humbly as to were the starting point would be for me if that was my tree.

I have landscaped three rental properties with collected material that I couldn't see a future in, so I know exactly what you mean. :D Once a year I do pruning on all of them, each year they get a little shorter and a little closer to maybe having a future some day. Maybe my daughter will be re-collecting these some day, then again, maybe she'll be a little smarter....

Thanks Tom, that is a certainly a valid option and once these have recovered fully, they very well could be chopped back to the lowest piece of foliage and be moved to a nice sunny spot in ground.
