Hello all,

I have a grape stump which I wanted to train as bonsai for fun, but I have found lots of grey mould type stuff hiding under the bark.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of it? Or are this trees days numbered?

Thanks

With some grape Vines into the hundreds of years old, I don't think you should get too worried.

Could be just old pollen rotting behind that flaky bark.

Looks dead with no foliage🧐.

9?
If it is just under loose bark it's probably not a mould to get worried about.
Just have a real close look and make sure it is not some sort of tiny insect overwintering under the bark and waiting for the new leaves.

Wouldn't worry about it. Trying to get rid of it may cause more damage than the "problem" you're trying to get rid of. Doesn't look too out of the ordinary to me.
