That apprenticeship just seemed way too slave-ish to me. You'd have to be rich to be able to afford to work there.

Awesome! I didn't know he was into bonsai. Definitely slower pace than rock & roll! Might be a nice meditation for him and helps balance his rocker nature.

Cool to see George Haas in there! He's from my neck o' the woods. He's a very active member of REBS and other clubs in the area. He writes our newsletter and also writes for Golden Statements, the Golden State Bonsai Federation magazine. Nice to see George and Tommy representing Cali at Eisei-en!

It’s a shame he was having trouble w his apprentice applicants. Apparently his original apprentice saw the posting , and assumed he was being replaced , and left Eisei-en

That would be a pretty idiotic way to leave a job.

Also sounds very gossip-ish.

We've seem Tommy Lee at the west coast shows. I'm actually surprised to see him in TN!
Vince and Mick live in Nashville, so that may be why... I find that out watching Sammy Hagar's interviews in AXS TV in YouTube. I did a search for Tommy Lee Bonsai and there are quite a few pics of him at the Pasadena California Bonsai Society.

Since my move down from the rain forest (big mistake) into a "city," sort- of, I'm watching the tube more and really enjoying Bjorn at Eisei-en Bonsai on YOUTUBE. A gifted teacher and all around decent human being IMNSHO.

I imagine bonsai also provides an opportunity to have some normal friendships with regular folks. I’d expect being a celebrity to be quite exhausting a lot of the time. Just imagine if literally everywhere you went there was always a neverending parade of people who want an autograph, want to get their picture taken with you, etc. Like, all you want to do is walk into 7-11 and get a Slurpee, but it turns into this ordeal of people freaking out every time. It must be a relief sometimes to spend time around people who are likely to sort of forget you’re a celebrity and just geek out about trees with you.

(Some time before he came under the tutelage of Mr. Bjorholm I'm assuming...) He talked about his "banzais" in this tour of a room of his for Spin Magazine. Interestingly enough, he is one of the few that is able to get away with keeping his tree inside. He's obviously got mad skillz.
