Rick Garcia’s long awaited book, “Satsuki Azalea Bonsai” is open for pre orders today at Suiko Press !

Rick has been studying satsuki for many years. He is a Satsuki instructor certified by Mr Tatamori Gondo at the El Dorado Bonsai School in the 1990’s. Then went on to study with the President of the Japanese Satsuki Association, Mr Suisho Nakayama. Rick has spent many years working on this book and it is filling a much needed space in the Satsuki literature.

Cheers!

Hmm, the shipping for me is over 60 USD. Interesting choice for cover picture.

Put this on another post, but
The book arrived today. Gotta say, it's probably the most comprehensive English language satsuki book I've seen. It's 195 pages and has extreme detail. It's going to take months to get through it. Beautiful book visually as well

My book came in today as well. I got the fabric hardback. It's a really nice book.

Thanks for the offer, however I already have an alternative way that saves a few bucks that is already put in motion.

Based off those pictures, looks like a nice book. Also nice to have a book with actual lengthy text in it, as the Droste book for example is really sparse on that area. And the Callaham book is also half pictures, half cultivar listings.

Is the special edition worth it? Does it only change the plastic wraparound, like the Galle and Vertrees books have, to be cloth instead? I guess they do that because its cheaper than a real book cover?

I love my copy. I got the less expensive version. I did not get a chance to browse the special edition. I don't know the difference.

I think the "special" edition has the cloth cover on the book -- this is what mine looks like without the dustjacket.

I'll take a picture of mine when I get home. The dust jacket is the same as in @Leo in N E Illinois post, but the actual book is wrapped in fabric (the front and back hardcover)

Yea I was wondering what the special edition was compared to the other one and if the extra $10 was worth it.
Id like to order one soon so if someone can clarify, I would greatly appreciate it

I received mine yesterday. It is the cloth bound edition like rockm shows. Ten dollars isn't that big an issue once you have decided to pull the trigger.

I have found through the years that resale value down the road for some good bonsai books increases with any "special" upgrade treatment. Ever see how much a hardcover "Bonsai Techniques" goes for?

One first has to want to sell it....I tend to hold on to things.
Maybe when I get too old for bonsai though
