Chinese Juniper (Informal Upright)
Bonsai Artist: Amy Liang Chang
Species: Juniperus chinensis
Exhibited At: Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection

This informal upright juniper, which is truly penjing not bonsai, is a true favorite at the collection. It has been a penjing since 1962.

Bright afternoon light spilling over the western wall of the display creates dramatic illumination of the foliage and jin on this tree.

Vic, thank you for sharing these photos with us. I just realized the rating on these threads is for the photo, not necessarily the tree.

I especially appreciate your notes on the photos. Thank you.

No worries... I always think of it as the tree more than the work of the photo.

You think this Amy Laing is an 8? You need a better monitor dearest... :D lol

This tree is a year around favorite at the Rim... second only to a couple others. One way you know that is that it is almost never off display. Seeing it each time I go, is almost like visiting a much loved friend. Needless to say, I am excessively fond of this tree.
