No none of those things you mentioned Paradox. They looked thin and generally healthy. I had just done a light repotting last sping and was gonna skip this year until I saw the issues.

I am afraid it may be root rot. When I did repot, as I would rake through the roots clumps of thin fine roots would just fall out. I hate that it will die, someone bought me the tree 3 years ago. I think they payed $700

I have a 18 yr. maple. I repotted this year in spring into a good size nursery pot. It budded out fairly nice, but the new leaves stay only a few days before turning brown and die. It is in partial shade and temps are in low 80's. Could this be too much water?

thanks for the advice, I cut back a few of the branches in fall and moved indoors. it budded back crazy.. I will def pot deeper in the spring.

I have a trident that last year gave me great fall color. This year it did not, just light orange and browns. What may have caused this change in color?

Yes I plan on carving old top and making leader new apex. I cut a few thicker branches back hard in order to bring the foliage back toward trunk. I will post pics as it starts to fill in.

Yes. NC, tree is inside now untill next spring.

I am a greenhorn yes, but what the hell is this Sumo stuff. Just looks like a cop-out to me. Looks much better to have a tree at least 18" tall. Sumo looks like shit I keep mowing over every Saturday.
