i was stumbling around some nurseries today and i was looking at the maples. i noticed that the majority had a different root stock on them. i was wondering whats the reason behind that and would it hurt to attempt to air-layer its own set of roots... -angel

thanks for the input im actually thinking of removing either the entire left or right branch and try and makes some nice jin out of it... im going to wait till the next year or so and see how much growth comes out of which side before i decide on anything...

sorry i live in california. the tree is no where near finished, i just couldnt wrap my head around the leaf reduction. im brand new to bonsai.

is it okay to completely defoliate the tree... i wasnt able to find a nursery that carried Premnas so i ordered this one from www.wigertsbonsai.com
