    My little tree...

It didn't just "happen". I'm pretty sure it was my fault so maybe I really don't care enough. If it just happened I would feel less bad about it. I'm pretty sure I got too lazy and let it get hard rain too many days in a row and it compacted the soil and stayed damp for too long and I didn't...

Well your prediction came true. I killed it. So much for that.

    Bonsai workspace ideas?

I have danes. They're 130+ pounds and actually look down on 3 foot tall tables. We actually have to be careful what we leave on tables and counters because they can see it and mess with it from normal standing height... But anyway, I wish I could move the spot or the hoop but unfortunately my...

Unfortunately I can't, but thanks for the info.

    Bonsai workspace ideas?

I need a workspace and safe place for my bonsai to live. Safe from flying basketballs and dogs and thrown sticks and who knows what else. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm sure somebody has to deal with that sort of thing. I got my bonsai last year and I wasn't sure what I was going to do with...

    My little tree...

Not to mention that I'm still gunshy and annoyed after the dogs destroyed two of my moss gardens last fall. They ripped every last bit out of the planters and covered the entire patio with soil. I'm kind of stressed about growing things right now.

I entirely understand. I appreciate your input. This is why I've downplayed things. I have no illusions that I've been "doing bonsai" at any point, or that keeping it alive is "doing bonsai". I wasn't going to say that I plan to do X Y and Z "bonsai things" and claim I'm "doing bonsai" because...

I'm in Taylor. Thanks for the suggestions. I tested it a bit to see how much give it has and I think I could be comfortable with a combination of these two methods. Maybe loosen a little and stake. Could this also be solved with some trickery when I eventually repot it as well?

    Winter color of junipers

Hah, I'd be one of those people who asked about this recently. Thank you for the info and patience. I was so worried about mine this winter. (Heck I was worried last summer and asked if it was ok then too.) This is how mine looked when I put it on the table just after the cold broke. I won't...

Thank you. I respect that. I'm glad this didn't fester. I'm not sure yet how to approach this forum or culture so please forgive my ignorance. I'm sorry if I've been so flippant that you found it hard to take me seriously but I was mostly just downplaying things a bit. Frankly needing to do...

    My little tree...

I'm just going to go ahead and say this. Since we're talking about impressions... What you said to me comes across presumptuous, elite and jaded and is really offputting to me. I was a bit of a fan of yours. I'm assuming you're the Vance Wood from YouTube and I enjoyed many of your videos. Let's...

On the contrary I fret about this tree and keeping it alive quite a lot. I'm just not ready for adding fancy curves and all that yet. Unless it actually does something to keep the tree alive. If I try to shape this tree and I snap it in half that would be really disappointing.

    My little tree...

I did look it up. That seems doable. I planned to let that branch keep going already. I read that "everyone does cascade" or something like that but I'm not concerned with making perfect art just yet since I don't even know what I'm doing. When I understand the tree I'll decide what I want to...

    My little tree...

I thought about it but I don't think I'm that committed yet. This was somebody else's whim they got for me and at this point my main interest is keeping it alive. If I get into it enough to start getting more trees I might try some wiring but I'm not about to snap this tree, even if it turns...

    My little tree...

I never realized how small my bonsai is until just now. When it is outside on the table it seems way bigger than it actually is. I guess that's the point though isn't it? Otomc4 by ardiel posted Mar 18, 2015 at 11:33 PM 5d6mg1 by ardiel posted Mar 18, 2015 at 11:33 PM
