Ficus or Juniper? Which is best for a beginner?

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'll do my best to contact Pedro Morales and other bonsai people around here but I also find it helpful to hear opinions from people here on the forum. I'll take a look at other tropicals too, but still, I feel safer going with a Ficus or Juniper because of the...

Ficus or Juniper? Which is best for a beginner?

No, I don't intend to keep either of them inside, they will be outside. And of course, I won't be getting a "mallsai", whichever I choose I'm getting at a bonsai nursery. So which do you recomend? Thanks!

New pot suggestions for this tree?

Most pictures I've seen seem to have them in shallow pots. And yes, the primary reason for repotting this guy is to put him in good draining soil. I'm just taking the opportunity to change pots too. :)

New pot suggestions for this tree?

Hey, repotting this Fukien tea soon and wanted to see if I could get some suggestions for the new pot. Also, I'm planning on moving it to 100% inorganic soil since this one seems to be 100% organic and isn't doing much good in terms of drainage (I got the tree about a week ago). Thanks guys! :)...

Fukien soil help. Should I repot?

Thanks for the replies, guys. Here are some pictures (sorry for the size, posting pictures here is too difficult) What do you think? And don't worry, he'll be getting outside soon enough. I'll get a new pot for it if I repot so does anyone have any suggestions?

Fukien soil help. Should I repot?

When I water it, the water pools on top of the soil for a pretty long time and slowly gets sucked in but somehow it keeps feeling dry. Water comes out through the drainage holes but I sususpect it might just be going down the inner sides of the pot because of soil compression, though I might be...

Chinese Elm or Small Leafed Jade

Thank you, I'll check him out. Both clubs are about a 2 hour drive away from my location but I'm going to get more information nonetheless.

Chinese Elm or Small Leafed Jade

Beginner here looking for a nice starter tree. These are my two choices. I live in Puerto Rico so we've got tropical climate, hot all year round (Zones 11- 13). If you've got any other recommendations, I'll be glad to know. :) Also, I've got a Ginseng Ficus but it's basically still Pre-Bonsai...

    Please help identify this species.

Well, I'll try and let it grow for some time and see what happens then. Maybe that can make it look more tree like. If I were to get another tree, which should I get? I was thinking about a small leafed Jade or a Chinese Elm. What do you think?

    Please help identify this species.

I was giving this little guy by my girlfriend as an anniversary present and I love it. I'm pretty sure it's a ficus but I don't know which type. It's my first bonsai so if anyone can give me a few tips specifically for this species then I would be very grateful (watering, pruning, etc), thanks...
