    Anyones trees waking up?

Weird weather or what? CNY and Mohawk Valley - golfers are happier than skiers & snowmobilers. Get the lawnmowers back out!

    Some Pictures

Oh my indeed! Oh yes, that Ponderosa is begging to attend a future U.S. National Exhibition. Nature's creations..... no wiring required.

    Casuarina

Ahhh. Yes I do recognize it now. Thank you. How about more specifics about your tree in particular - a little 'history'.

Beautiful tree. Love your work. Tell us about this tree. From the pics it appears to have soft short needles, a bit like our larches.

    Lucky dog... Happy Larch...

Love this larch and remember the discussion here with the now former 'keeper' of this tree. Many thanks for sharing your plans for it. I have no experience with slab planting but will learn alongside the others as you go on to the next level with it. Ron Lang will become instrumental in the project.

    Utah Juniper plans.

Paul, I think what the guys are saying has some merit. A full tilt in the opposite direction with the 2 heavy branches going left and a bit downward (even if jinned) and the apex wired down to the right or flattened some. It would require removal of a few low branches. I do like the pot...

    Ponderosa: First Snow in Wyoming

NICE Dan, very nice. We will enjoy watching any updates/new photos of your work with this ponderosa. Have you collected others? Do you ever place them into grow boxes - or the ground - for a recovery period? Is Douglas close to your collecting site? Lots of questions for the new guy!

    grewia as bonsai

Never had any care sheets or growing instructions. A woman in our club has a small shop and sells them, though it probably came from Meehan's Miniatures originally. It was only recently that I was advised to give it more iron. Have begun to do that and hope for a healthier tree. Like you I have...

    grewia as bonsai

I have had a little grewia 'in-training' as a bonsai, semi cascade style, for about 5 years now. It loves the outdoors in summer months and flowers well. (Lavender Star Flower). Then I cut it way back when I bring it in in the fall and place it under lights. It sulks a bit and mopes along...

    A day wiring a hornbeam

A very well developed hornbeam - nicely wired. Have we seen this one 'in-leaf'? Not a fan of the pot either. Will be glad to see it replaced. Question - do you consider the thick heavy moss as detrimental to the health of the roots?

    Spreading Nebari

Many people place a flat tile beneath the tree when repotting. However I've never done this and have wondered how the tree gets wired into the pot while the tile is 'in the way'. Maybe we'll both learn something here!
