    How bad is this?

To both responses, thank you very much for taking the time to respond and of course for the advice. To my neighbor, coltranem; yes we do have good nurseries here. I’ve only been to N.E. Bonsai once so far, was def impressed, there was a lot of great specimens there, unfortunately it was very...

    How bad is this?

So I have this young honey locust; and also two questions about it. First, My Honey Locust has one branch (the upper branch) growing at an angle I liked. But, the lowest branch (circled in red, in the pic) shot straight up almost like the trunk, this didn’t please me. So my first question is...

So not new, just nit advanced in Bonsai

I should also add, that the other parts of the soil are equal part sifted compost, about 50 percent of a local bonsai shops pre-made soil ( that consists of turface.) and sifted perlite.

So not new, just nit advanced in Bonsai

So I was misinformed and thought coconut coir was a alright thing in bonsai. Well I added it to my soil recently and transpalted a few trees that began to bud recently. I live in New England, so it gets pretty cold, I also live in an apartment; so I kind of have to deal with limited storage...

Also have a style question for a jade

First off, I would like to thank everyone for their replies. All of them where helpful. Sorry about the slow response, and the poor quality of the pictures; the phone I used is pretty old, well "old"cell phone wise that is. Also, sorry about the confusion; that's a Serrisa in the background...

Also have a style question for a jade

Not really to familiar with these succulents here, but I like the way they shape up, and look in a bonsai pot. So I figured, I'd try my hand at growing this one; I started trimming it, and hit a point, where I could use some direction. So, I was hoping that maybe there is someone out there...

    First fertilizer of the season?

Well they're granulated, don't know if that counts as pellets, sorry. But yes, I believe they are slow time released. Organic 4-2-3. So one is a 5 year old Dwarf Trost Birch tree, leaves are a couple days from being all the way out, the others are BloodGood maples, maybe two seasons old, one...

    First fertilizer of the season?

So I have an assorted pack of deciduous prebonsai trees in their pots, they've started pushing leaves. I'm wondering, if you had pellet type fertilizer, would you put that in when the buds just start to push, or do wait until all the leaves a fully out to apply?

    Post transplanting + right soil?

Oh okay, yes and no, sorry to be so confusing, let me clear this up. Yes, I've had the pot for three years, the birch is the only tree to ever be in it. Which it is in now, after the soil was changed out. For this season I had no designs on transplanting it again. How ever, I did mention a new...

    Post transplanting + right soil?

So don't ever repot it again, or just this season? If it had green buds on it should I have left it alone?

    Post transplanting + right soil?

So once again, to anyone out there willing to bend an ear, and maybe throw in their much appreciated two cents. I have a lace leaf birch tree three years old...maybe give or take a couple months. It's from a cutting I snagged off of Amazon for a good deal. Anyways, right from the get go I put...

    Repot or not

Just wanted to thank everyone for responding. I'm going for it, Transplanting ASAP. Still trying to read up on soils. I have a bit of premixed binsai soil, not sure on all the ingredients, but I do know it has Turface in it. And upon reading about Turface in the forums I tend to agree that it...

    Repot or not

Good to know, thank you for being so informative. I'm currently scanning the forums for a good affordable soil recipe. But how long of a window would you say I have? I only ask cause I have to save up for a new pot. Or I might just repot it in the same pot (that can be done right?). Plus I...
