it looks like soil problem. it is the most common problem that i see. have you reoptted it yet? how much soil do you remove and what kind of soil mix do you use? i do not usually have to protect it too much. the key thing is to know how much soil and root can be removed. tie it well and...

Ian, do you have shade cloth. put it under 30% shade cloths (all day filtered sun) and mist it several times a day. keep it in a good ventilation area. fertilize lightly until it grows strong. then add more fertilizer. take care,

the tree is weak. do not decandle until it is strong. it may take a few years. it is very leggy. graft interior branch. then cut the long leggy branches off to make it compact. Boon www.bonsaiboon.com www.bayislandbonsai.com

I do not use bark. it will cause root rot in the long run. you can use 1 part haydite and 1 part akadama plus 5% charcoal for more info, you can go to. http://www.bonsaikc.com/bonsai_soil.htm or www.bonsaitonight.com Happy Repotting!

    Bay Island Bonsai Exhibit 2010

I agree on having different taste on art. putting tree on the stand is like putting the picture in the frame. we need space on the frame to show off the picture inside the frame. if the frame is too small. it looks cramp. if it is too big the picture will appear too small. do you think...

good observation. either way is correct you can use the flat side as a front when the tree is smaller. to make the stand apprear larger you can use the corner as the front. this is the case that the tree and the pot is larger.
