    Help me rescue...my budget!!

Most people here drive several hours minimum for trips to collect trees, if it was local and in your backyard you'd have it already! ;) Network with your local club as much as you can, you can learn what you don't need from peers with decades of experience in bonsai (with that comes...

Buy a tree in Japan, leave it there

If you are incredibly wealthy with several homes/villas/yachts in different countries then naturally I would assume you would need to be a bonsai enthusiast at the highest level with a canon of historic trees with extensive show experience that would be stewarded by a consummate master of...

    What is this @bonsainut

Sorry paradox Maybe this a paradoxical joke like "I say what sites I dont go to and we talk about that on another site together but then I say you dont know what my internet habits are" I was just giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming you were an honest bonsai enthusiast, let me...

    Bitcoin

FUN fACT; the misspellings in the famed "Nigerian Prince" email and many others like it were intentionally put there as a way to sift through the audience and find more-vulnerable individuals. Scam artists wouldn't possibly have time to every single response to every spam email they've ever...

    "Repotting" vs "Changing Pots"

I think with the clever way you massage reality with your deft use of language will allow you to get away with it!

When Is A Tree Ready For A Bonsai Pot?

I was going to say "When you are planning on showing it in < one year" but Bnut put it more succinctly

    Iowa state Fair show

Its a folksy Mid-westerner thing. Our clubs largest show is at the Minnesota State Fair which normally has a daily admission above 100,000 people, and the bonsai show is a fan favorite.

What are the best ways to create sustainable conditions in which bonsai trees will thrive?

Its not the tree's attributes as much as it is the environment where the bonsai lives. Look at your local landscape and you can see that every year trees die, climate pests and disease have killed both landscape and bonsai that I have owned over the years. I remember maybe 5 years ago we had a...

    Baby-sized Gingko planning thread

Heres my 3 year old with this tree. "tree" was one of his first words, I let him touch foliage and do some small interactions with my trees, e is quite interested and likes to mimic my bonsai chores.

    Akadama...My Experience

If you pay for mined earth to be dug up from ground, put in plastic bags, fly/sail across oceans, so you can sift and use the desireable 50% as media for container horticulture the you are great and The "put dirt in a bag and send it all over the world" industry really appreciates it (Also...

    Bonsai work from 2021

Bogs I have seen dont have them, I see large fully grown examples around and supported by lakes but I have only seen full grown mature plants and one time I found a 6" seedling. Thujas in my experience grow very slow so I believe its all about what you find rather than what you create. I did...

    Bonsai work from 2021

Nice Thuja(s) or cedars maybe. I find lots of larch in Northern MN bogs but I never see collectible cedars any tips where to find them? I have looked around lakeshores with no luck.

    WTB Wisteria seeds

I have many seed pods with maybe 100 seeds from the Wisterias on my parent's trellis, I think American, flowers are white. I decided to start different seed and have no use for these, also I could get you a ton more, most of the pods are still on their vines.
