Awesome! I went to the Tucson Bonsai Society's show at the Botanical Gardens and I saw their soil was mainly small grain black lava rock and pumice. It made me wander about my soil. Beautiful trees there today, just saying.

Yeah it was in an old hiking boot under I guess the parent plant. I am hoping that the manzanita will stay alive though. Right now I am experimenting with multiple plant to see how they go. After work I will get on my computer and type them out.
So I contacted the Parks person that we have on base and she talked to one of her contacts and got me the OK to "collect a specimen to study". I am in the clear for having the Manzanita. and they are possible for bonsai just really finicky. I am going to try to grow it on a interesting rock I have.
Found this interesting tree/shrub growing in a boot on a mountain trail. Mt Lemmon has these growing all over it. I live in Tucson,Az. I don't know what it is, but it's pretty. Maybe bonsai material.
