That looks great! The paint makes a big difference, also the mulch and edging is really nice.

That's really nice. Is the roof the same spacing as the slats on the bench?

Wow, I'm sorry about the flood! I love the dry river bed of black stones, that's really classy.

    My collection in the snow

Here's my Mugo Pine, with my American Hornbeam just behind it Zelkova Orange, which I was surprised to learn can easily withstand temperatures as low as the mid 20's. Even the tender new leaves that grew late in the summer seem to be handling it just fine!

    My collection in the snow

Our first winter in North Carolina, and Durham got more snow than they have in years. My trees must feel right at home! I like to take pictures of them snow covered. maybe because it covers up the flaws, or maybe because it places them in a natural context. Either way, I think they look pretty...

    A welcome visitor

I glanced at my hornbeam the other day and thought the topmost branch had a dead twig on it. ! A closer look revealed a greyish brown praying mantis. Norway Spruce in Zone 7 Durham NC

Hi Spruce owners. I just posted a thread on my move from Cleveland to Durham, and wanted to ask this more specific question. Do any of you have Norway Spruce in North Carolina, or a similar zone 7 climate? My research has shown that Norway Spruce isn't really found that far south except in the...

New to Durham NC, how to acclimate trees

I was concerned about the trees being in a hot moving van. Did you do anything to keep them cool in there?

New to Durham NC, how to acclimate trees

I actually think the summers are quite a bit hotter in NC. My family members who have moved there in recent years have said it's beastly hot compared to Cleveland. Maybe that's just their subjective evaluation? Could be.
