Selecting a branch for air layering

Heso, I would plant it in a pot of good soil. That way you can provide winter protection for it. Good soil will also help form a superior root system with roots close to the trunk that way you can transition to a bonsai pot in a few years. Good luck with your layers. Start lots of them so you...

Selecting a branch for air layering

I would recommend developing most of the trunk while still on the parent tree and then air layering a more finished trunk that you can then develope branches on after the layer is seperated. This will allow for more rapid wound healing as well as stronger response to chops. This is a branch...

    Conceptual Styling: Reverse Taper Trunk

I don't know about correcting taper, but some trees break the rules and look awesome. This ginkgo is a bit grotesque but to me is what ginkgo bonsai should be.

    Another JBP Air Layer Attempt

Sorry to hear that the tree is not doing well. I have played with a few mediums and found that sphagnum packed tightly to avoid excess water or screened bonsai soil 1/4 inch and larger with sphagnum over the top as Osoyoung stated to be the best for me and my location. I believe that the perlite...

    Rooting Hormone? Yeah, sure!

Nebari, not sure about regulations in Sweden but you may want to look into buying 100% IBA and pharmaceutical grade talc online and mixing your own. I had a hard time finding the concentration I wanted and this worked well for me. 5g IBA and 500g talc cost a total of $15.00 US, so it is also an...

    Crepe myrtle

That's awesome to get so many flowers on a small plant. I want one now. If you buried the right side of the tree with sphagnum moss you could probably get roots to pop there. Crapemyrtle root very well. Cuttings also root with little effort so approach grafts could be a solution. Cheers
