Thanks for the info Rob. I have another 3 that I've put in larger pots to just let go for a while.
This one didn't have any lower branches, they had already been removed.
It is a Sequoiadendron giganteum.
They wont break dormancy until spring now.
I just figured now would be the best time for root work since they aren't growing and with no leaves the roots aren't absorbing nutrients.
Now that we are in winter over here (Australia) and my trident maples and elm have dropped their leaves, is it ok to start root pruning them and re-pot or should I wait until spring?
This olive is very very healthy.
I have had to cut back the foliage a number of times over the last 6 months.
It's forever throwing out new buds everywhere.
This is one of 3 olive tree stumps I dug up over 6 months ago.
They have had to be cut back a number of times.
They have been powering along really well.
Now I have decided to have a go at carving.
I've never done it before but thought I might give it try.
This is all I have taken out...
I'm not sure what this tree is, a few people have said it could be a Mexican White Cedar.
A friend of mine was going to through it out, he didn't like the way he had wired it so I took it.
Any ideas??
I bought this for $80 on the weekend.
I've always a decent sized swamp cypress to play with.
Even though it has its autum colours it still has some fresh green shoots coming through.
