    JBP Christmas present #3

Edprocoat: I know what you mean. That are had around 4-5 branches growing at the same spot so I removed the stronger ones, biggest one was left as a jin and remaining one was left as a back branch. Maybe I will carve it a bit more as I didn't wanna dig into the tree too much till it gets...

    JBP Christmas present #3

edprocoat: I know what you mean but its just a poor lighting and back branch at the spot. Taper is nice and although trunk could be a little bigger in the lower part considering the tree, no other parts are wider or close and it is slimmer as it goes up. That was also one of the reason of the...

    JBP Christmas present #3

thank you for comments, I know this first wiring has few glitches here and there but its just first shaping, in 3-4 months i will have to rewire as other 2 pines from the August I styled as they grow quite fast. As Adam mentioned, thick branch was too much of the imbalance so I decided to jin...

    JBP Christmas present #3

My lovely GF gave me a small pine for this Christmas so I had a go and this is the result. Nice movement with lots of good branches. After it will establish a little bit, ill work on the jin :) Merry Christmas to all. ;)

    Azalea dropping leaves (getting worried)

seems like theres new growth popping here and there so fingers crossed. Is there any way I could help it a little? Would you suggest to add a bit of Seasol to stimulate root growth?

    Azalea dropping leaves (getting worried)

weird thing is that it happened to azalea that was not only purchased and had no radical work done on her but also one with fresh soil.... as mentioned it is getting less sun and water for now so keeping fingers crossed. twigs are still alive and theres bit of growth on the ends popping up so...

    Azalea dropping leaves (getting worried)

I'm getting worried about my azaleas, after they finished flowering, they started dropping leaves and Im not sure if its because of the sun (they are moved to shade) or watering cycle (immediately i stopped watering and Im maintaining close eye on the soil not to go too dry). I lost one azalea...

    Cork-bark Elm in development

this is a cork bark elm after radical chop since it was very tall with not much movement and bard branch structure. Starting from the beginning i just wish for advice on how to continue or which way to go. Its picking up nicely but all the growth is from the very area of the cut but not so much...

    Reverse taper fix (JBP)

sounds like a good news. and again, tourniquet method under ground or classic air layering with bag of sphagnum moss and rooting hormone? As for the season, the area where I live is going into the summer and temperatures are reaching over 40 degrees (C). I have to shade few of my trees but...

    Reverse taper fix (JBP)

thank you guys, the tree is quite vigorous but I will wait till it will pick up 150% and next year I will airlayer it properly just after winter when it will start getting warmer and everything will be waking up ;) BTW does the same thing apply to JUNIPERS or are they bit easier to air-layer...

    Reverse taper fix (JBP)

I've got a small shohin japanese black pine (thunderhead) thats been clearly grafted and developed poor reverse taper and was wondering about applying a tourniquet to try to ground layer it. I was wondering if its not too late as here in Sydney it is the beginning of the very hot summer and i...

    2 pine projects

fair enough, ill give it a go for this season. What about in terms of the design of the tree? Branch structure or mistakes? its really my first bigger project when it comes to pines and Im really enjoying it.

    2 pine projects

that was my whole reasoning for low nitrogen as i wish for trees to regenerate fast after such drastic "haircut", rather than grow bigger. Other pines in development are on organic fertiliser (12:2:7) for faster growth.

    2 pine projects

the first one has already been decandled after the first growth and now the second one is pushing through. Second one was decandled right after purchase upon first styling. Could you please explain how could fertilizing negatively impact pine after its been decandled? (honest question) ;)

    2 pine projects

first one was styled on the end of the winter season and second one now just before the summer. They are both getting as much sun as possible, won't repot till next winter at least, maybe ill wait a year after and i started fertilising with low nitrogen/high phosphorus and potassium liquid...
