Yes I'm basically asking if I can take a shitty 4' tall $24 Japanese maple and cut it down to a 6" stump could i make it a bonsai. Trip the root structure as well.
Well I ordered the purple online. And I'm not sure what type my father has. It's a Japanese Maple. He asked if I can keep it from growing any taller. I haven't looked at it yet. And I have no practice in such a thing.

Turned out to be 2 leaves. I cut them off, hopefully it's an isolated thing. That's a good pic considering its from a 6plus. It's too dang big for one handed photos.

After looking and studying this tree it really is a bad tree. Looks like they cut the wrong branches and cut them in a manner where they don't look like the will heal. The other branches look very poorly grafted on to a root. The root decay on the smaller root doesn't seem to be affecting...
