    Air Layer Pines?

Where are you located? I have layered JBPs in one season from starting the layer to removing it from the parent tree. I am in Florida and therefore have long growing season to help. If you are in a less tropical climate that might stretch it another season. Good clean and sterile cut, proper...

An open letter to Mr. Nut

Cool. Thanks for your response. As I mentioned I am good either way but I just can't deal with the non bonsai stuff anymore. I attempted to see if you would revert back to how it was before the karaoke bar. Few of us here now remember that time. How long ago was that? 2 or 3 years? If we meet...

An open letter to Mr. Nut

I think it's time to bring this topic up for discussion. I apologize in advance if I insult you Mr. Nut as I really do believe you have a great site here but... I suggest (with all due respect) that the Karaoke Bar section of the forum be closed or locked for good. It's for the most part...

Marco Invernizzi's new tool - "Ichiban"

You are welcome Marco. I actually owe you a thank you for pizza and drinks one day at Jim Gremel's place. You were doing a workshop and I came to visit Jim with Brent and you insisted we join you for lunch. I believe you actually forced me to sit and eat - so thank you! I know the handles...

Marco Invernizzi's new tool - "Ichiban"

Wow. 23 pages of discussion on a "magical" $350 tool. Sad. Either buy it or don't. It won't make you any better will it? I am sure that the tool itself costs more than the average members most expensive tree for sure but... $350 is not a lot for a well made tool. I spent $399 yesterday...

    Grafting help

What more are you looking for on grafting? My best advice is to get a bunch of root stock cheap and cut scions and graft them. Do 10 and see your survival rate. Practice is what you need to do, the more you do it the more you will become accustomed to the methods and procedures and the better...

    Pine Perspective

Isn't depth of field great! I can't remember what you are shooting on but the addition of an off camera strobe or two would be a great addition to your photography arsenal. With snoots or grids you could have painted each tree with enough light from low shooting upward A great site to keep...

    Ramification

Someone else pointed this out - I believe the camera mounted flash created a double effect. Who took this photo? If someone is going to go to Japan and see the exhibit at least they could invest in a couple of radio controlled flash units and learn how to properly shoot with a strobe. All those...

    A quickie project.......

I don't care how long it took Harry. I'm just glad you did it, took photos and posted it. Did you take more photos of your process? I think you may have a small photo essay with instructions in there. You know - for the sticks in the pots nOObs. And all this time I thought you were just...

    Large Serissa

How's this one - large enough? It's a club member's tree and I can't recall the exact size but it's pretty impressive. He has began training it in 1987 I believe. The cardholder is a baseball card holder for scale.

rooting japanese black pine from cuttings

Nothing but the single survivor I described (and it's doing well). I did not have time to do it again this year.

Alabama Bonsai Society Spring Show: 5/16-17

I like the concept of the live feed and I wil drop in at some point to see what is being offered on the feed. Not sure if the live feed will be live, or will be a loop or whatever else but I really like the idea and would like to say thanks for posting a link and sharing the idea. Best of...
