    My Handcrafted Bonsai Stand Pictures

Chris, I agree with Dick that the stands need bonsai on them to display correctly. The choice of stands is also important. Speakerstands just won't do the trick. Looking at your website, there are quite a few that I like. Again, as said, simplicity is key.

    Azalea regeneration

Hi there Marie. I followed your thread with interest. Had some azalea myself, but had to restart after I moved back to SA from mainland Europe. Can you give an update on how it is doing now, please with some pictures if possible. Thanks

I'll definitely check it out Sand, Thanks! I keep it indoors, Rick, because it is not quite warm enough yet outside.

Help needed in identifying the problem

I have a small azalea which is coming down with something. I am not sure what this is and what causes it. Some of the new shoots are much lighter in colour than the older ones. Some of the leaves are getting brown around the edges and worsens as time goes on. I did feed once so far this season...

    Tilia Cordata

I bought this little tree from a bonsai nursery over the weekend. I transplanted it into a bigger pot and would like to let the trunk fatten over the next 2 years. I do need some help on possible styling of this little one. My main question is this stump on the right hand side of the trunk with...

    Bonsai wisdom?

I wonder if it will be possible start a thread on bonsai wisdom. By this I do not mean technical stuff like "how to's". By this I mean those "pearls" of which you do not read in books, but only acquire through experience. I will give an example: The other day Mr Vance taught me a very valuable...

    What is this?

Vance, I wish I could visit you to learn from you. What a paradigm shift to realise bonsai = "reducing" and not "growing into". Thanks a lot. Like one of my friends always says:"This I can take home with me" Gerhard

    What is this?

Great advice, lesson learned, next question... What are the basic principles in chosing stock? Gerhard PS: Sorry I have to be so tenacious, but I cannot let the opportunity pass without learning this too!!

    What is this?

Bnut, I bought it from a nursery that sells bonsai as well as other plants. On the label it only said "assorted conifer". I have often seen them at nurseries, but do not know if it is indigenous. Gerhard

    Species to avoid for bonsai

Thanks Bnut for this post. Would be very helpful if it is completed. Why not taking it a step further and doing something on the "prerequisites" for a good stock plant. What would be the advice of the advanced to the beginners. Or is it a different topic altogether? My reason for asking is that...

    What is this?

Jon, it is indeed a twin trunk. Do you really think with the amount of bend in the trunks, it is possible to get them upright in a twin trunk style? I thought it would be "easier" to try a semi cascade, although I do not yet know what to do with the branch that I put upright for the moment. The...
