    update Here is the tree 9 months later. spending some time now re-evaluating and making plans for the spring on all my trees. It did backbud a bit, and it should be safe to shorten some of the longer verticals now. I tried to keep the growth at the tips pruned down to encourage growth closer...

    Thank you for your suggestion lordy. With the trunk being about 1.5", your suggested height reduction seems appropriate as it would make the tree about 8-10" tall and should give it pretty nice proportions.
