    Mino Yatsabusa Trident Maple

While back ago, as I was admiring my Miyasama Yatsubusa, I came across a picture of Mino Yatsubusa, and fell in love with the leaves :D :D ... So to make a long story short, I purchased a tiny twig and planted in my backyard. So over few years, it became a crazy mess, so this Spring I decided...

Acer buergerianum 'Miyasama kaede yatsubusa' or 'Miyasama yatsubusa'

So I started training on a bonsai pot, but not really concentrating on any specific direction. I have managed to Air Layer a tall branch off of this mother tree (on the pot), which is over 6 feet tall now and another one (on the ground) with larger leaves grown from a cutting (out of many, one...

    Miyasama Trident Maple w/ roughbark

I used raw honey after scraping the cambium layer :) ... So instead of using Sphagnum Moss, I used composted soil in a clear cup that I used for the Air Layer and kept the soil watered whenever I watered my garden. I want this Air Layer to be successful (as well as the one I got going atm)...

    Miyasama Trident Maple w/ roughbark

These are extremely slow grower and as someone mentioned above, very difficult to propagate. However, not impossible. After killing one, I did not want to touch the one 'field growing' until I had a way to propagate. I tried cutting methods (couple of near success but failed mostly due to my...

Fungus growing on Miyasama Yatsubusa Trunk

Actually I've started to observe the fungus to shrink and nearly disappear since I've stopped watering the plant (from the day I first discovered it). Tree still look very healthy as it rained couple of times in between anyway. Thanks for the advise!

Fungus growing on Miyasama Yatsubusa Trunk

Some of you may remember a post where I stated, I had two of these very beautiful Miasma Yasubusa Kaede (Taiwanese Trident Maple). Well, I did loose one due to my callousness (:(:oops::(:mad:)but one you see in this pic (Old Pic) growing fairly well (I actually sort of left it alone...
