    Higan Cherry Advice

This is one year of training. Not sure how old they are, but they are all seedlings Also yeah I know the wiring is horrible on the second one. It was a demonstration tree, lol

    Higan Cherry Advice

This particular tree is long gone, and I never figured out why it died. I do however have some very, very nice ones from a different batch I can show later this week. Grown from seed. Cherries can and will develop quite quickly, as long as you do your best not to introduce unnecessary open...

    Literati Prunus Mume?

I wish! That would be super expensive though. Leftover/used bonsai soil, mostly dirt from other projects around the yard, couple bags of topsoil, and aged manure from our chicken coop. Not sure what I did right but the plants seem to love it.

    A visit to Camellia Forest

Ah man that's awesome! I will definitely be making a trip there now, thanks for the heads up especially on the princess persimmon Not super bonsai related, but did you happen to see their stock of tea camellias?

What do you keep your Bonsai tools in?

Ya know, over the years I've tried all sorts of storage solutions like the roll holder you showed, or a peg board system. I think it depends how serious you are, how much space you need, and how clean you are. This year I've almost finished my new studio. I found some magnetic tool strips at...

    MIRAI YATSUBUSA ELM

This growth pattern issue is especially true for larger specimen seiju, good point. On shohin sized trees though this is not a problem at all, and of course the tiny leaves are perfect. The other thing about seiju is they are very prone to branch die off over winter, for seemingly no reason. It...

I already potted it, too late you think?

It would have left that side of the tree with no roots at all! I also needed something stable to tie the tree down with

    Ibo Nishiki JM

TLDR: Should I reduce the branches or leave as is? This week I've been working on digging out all the trees from my old grow beds to transition them to a new location later this year. A little unfortunate, as some of them would really benefit from another year undisturbed. Anyway, one of my...

Picea Glehnii Seeds, What to Do With Them?

I almost want to say it was sheffields? I might be able to find an exact answer later, but I believe that's where. I only had 1-3 survive, and they are still exceptionally small. Alot of that has to do with climate and underpotting though

Using Lime Sulfur as Dormant Spray on Broadleaf Evergreens

Interesting that it is corrosive to copper and aluminum- I wonder what that means for spraying wired trees, if anything I used LS on trees as a dormant spray last year and am not sure it's super effective, but am about to apply some this week. Daconil stunted growth. It feels like a futile...

Anyone checked the 10 day forecast?

I do not, that's why I want to do a workshop with it! I have a rough idea, but not a ton of carving experience. I usually lean away from carving trees

Anyone checked the 10 day forecast?

They really do- the ones in my grow beds are at or over 15' tall after 3, maybe 4 years. I have cuttings, you'll have to find out for yourself I 'spose! From cutting, this one was colander grown for a year, then plopped in a grow bed for 2-3, then potted in this flat for one
