Sound like root rot , I had one just like that and did a root prune and repot. Then placed it in a plastic bag , with vents . Keep giving it a misting every chance you get. Be prepared for it to die. But remember the tree wants to live, just give it all the chances you can to recoup.

It's been a long time since I was at one of their shows, Just too far for me to drive .

Ok I am in for it I have 4 trees to enter. Will post pic's when the snow melts. They are currently 3 feet under the snow. Should melt by April.

I am proud of all my trees , or I would not have potted them. They all take tears to be show quality but that's not my goal. My goal is to enjoy them while I can, and perhaps pass them on to someone else to enjoy.

Its always nice to have some good stock ,to ponder the possibilities . If you can afford go for it , its like any other hobby. I'm a hunter and with that being said hunting equipment if I totaled up my equipment would probably add up to 7 to 10 thousand just to shoot a deer and some ducks...

I use the bottom of my coffee cup don't know what grit that is but its ceramic and does a great job.

Since they grow long branches very fast and they will grow 3 feet long , each year and sometimes twice a year . I will cut all the long branches back to a couple inches, don't get me wrong I do not know if that is the proper way . I do it because these are growing in my yard and I trim them so...
