My New Ficus "Rudy" Wired and Defoliated

It's not the path I think I would have gone, but it's hard to tell from 2D pics. I'm sure you'll have a good tree once buds pop and you can choose your branching.

    Should I? (Ficus advice)

It looks so much better chopped down to just that bottom section and the new branches. Good job.

    Should I? (Ficus advice)

If it were me I would cut the branch up high because it's too thick to be that high on the trunk, cut the top back a bit (and the first branch) then regrow the branching from there. It would be a slightly taller tree than going with the cuts you've marked, SniffingKrylon, but I think it would be...

Can Someone Help My Dying Ficus

I agree it looks very dry. Keep the soil moist, not letting it dry completely out. I wouldn't cut the remaining leaves off though, I think that would definitely kill it.

    WalMart but not “wall-sai” ficus

I like it. Angling it like that really changes everything about it. I think once this thing adjusts and starts growing you'll get a better idea of where to go with it. If I were you I'd cut off all the branches on the right side except for the first one and regrow all the branches so they're in...

    Willow leaf f. Cutting

It's kind of impressive how much it's fattened up just by growing in a bonsai pot. I could see the two lower side branches growing out another inch to make it look even more squat.

    Humidity chamber for ficus?

Some of the best growth I ever had indoors with my ficus was when they were in a 20 gallon (approximate) tote, with the top covered by plastic cling wrap, and shop lights on top, for a week that I was on vacation. When I came back there was some algae in the bottom of the tote, but no noticeable...

Did you try asking the salesperson? Sometimes the 8822 is in the back.

No idea what, if anything, to do with this ugly thing...

Probably is if you’ve done it before, but I’ve never grafted. :D I figure if you have a plant with that potential it’s a good idea to go for it. Get a teacher to help you if you haven’t done it yourself yet.

    Graft shimpaku foliage on it.

    Day lily Farm Juniper

It doesn’t really look root bound to me. I would wait until next year to repot it. Put some Plant Tone or similar organic fertilizer on the soil surface and just let it grow.

    Little juniper's first haircut

There’s a couple threads on here about some extreme bends on young material. Smoke had some pines I know for sure, but you could do the same thing with the juniper. Wrap it in raffia, then wire, and bend the piss out of it. Let it grow for a couple years and take the wire off. Search for that...

    Little juniper's first haircut

Ninety-nine percent of the time windswept doesn't work unless you're quite advanced. I think it's too skinny to do much with. I would put some wire on it, do some more extreme bends, then let it sit and grow.

Unknown scale runaway juniper - Questions

Let it grow freely and cut back. You might get some backbudding. Otherwise, looks like a good candidate for grafting.
