    bug or disease?

^This this this. The galls can be caused by insects, but also fungus, bacteria and even certain plant viruses, and a local extension office (If you have a University with an agriculture program, they are also a good reference) can very likely tell you the cause of the galls. Without knowing...

    Japanese Maple Flowering age

Most A. palmatum reach maturity in 10-20 years, with a few cultivars taking much less and some taking many more. I've never seen one flower younger than five or six years myself, but there may be exceptions. Keep in mind that seedlings from maples are highly hybridized naturally, and while...

    Ryuga tools

I know they are being distributed by Joshua Roth - http://www.joshuaroth.com/ In theory, any of their suppliers should be able to get them. I would go to the Dealer's section of of the JR page and start contacting those folks to see who is bringing them in.

Anyone know the genus and species I have here?

I agree with Brian, Fukien Tea. It'll get little white flowers if it's happy, but they can be pretty finicky and get insulted easily. They are also insect magnets, so keep an eye out for cottony scale specifically and bugs in general, even indoors. I don't *think* Fukiens are toxic to dogs...

    weeping yoshino cherry ?

The main issue (as I see it) is that many weeping cherries sold for the landscape are grafted at the top. It keeps them smaller (grafted 'pendula' for instance will get around 10-15' tall instead of 20-25' tall) and a lot of homeowners want that. Cherry can definatly be grown in weeping styles...

How do you organize your wire?

I also keep my tools in an electrician's bag. I got a wire caddy in trade several years back, and I've been using that for wire storage. My only problem is that, fully stocked, the thing is *heavy*. But then, it's a metal stand covered in metal, so what are you going to do?

    "New" Bonsai subject

Sweet Osmanthus. I'm not familiar with it being grown as a bonsai, as the leaves are pretty large. But it's worth trying :)

    12 pic Potentilla fruiticosa progression

Very nice progression set. I'm a fan of potentilla myself for all of the same reasons. They really do make some handsome shohin if you can find the right stock, and it looks to me like you did. Can't wait to see this even a year or two down the road.

    Escallonia

Hi Mike, I've seen this tree before, and every time I see it, I have to pause. I just really enjoy this little guy and the image he portrays. Kudos. -Heather

Some misguided notions about personal attacks

I've been a member here for some time.... I have just never posted. I have enjoyed puttering through this forum, reading, but mostly keeping my fingers away from the keyboard. This comment by Vance however finally pulled me out of my self imposed silence. Some way to start posting here, huh...
