    HPS light for cuttings

Last week I put 15 fresh Shimpy cuttings in the appropriate medium with a humidity dome over them. Because it's so late in the grow season I was wondering if I could use my 100w HPS lamp for the winter and skip the dormancy period. Would it be OK because they're so young or because they have the...

    clueless about this Larch

That's 2 of you saying "the first image is the tree". All pics are the tree. They are just different views. It may look best from that angle, but it looks bad from the others. To me it looks like a bird trying to flap its wings to get off the ground, but can't.

    clueless about this Larch

anyone? anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Heath?... Thanks Tom. I downloaded the Gimp. Not as user-friendly as Photoshop. Maybe I'll try to find the real thing. As for the tree-there are a ton of new shoots emerging. I'm tempted to prune & wire very little, and let it go. Maybe some images will come to...

    clueless about this Larch

I'm asking you to please take another look at this j. Larch and offer up any suggestions on what style this could possibly become. I keep thinking "don't make it look like a bonsai. make it look like a tree." I can't think of any tree like this one. If I had an apex to work with I might be in...

Take a crack at identifing these two trees

That cedar mulch makes it look like a bowl of sticks with a tree growing out of it.

    Bonsai from the Wild

I'm movin' back after I get married this fall. Only I'm headed to the north shore of Boston, right near Salem, right near Colin Lewis. I went to college in Boston, then moved to Danvers and loved it. You couldn't be more right about being a New Englander. I even see it here in NY. I'll work...

    Look what I found

Nick's pelican I found the pic I was thinking of when I found my bird. This is from the gallery Will suggested. Oh by the way I just received the signed copy of Nick's 1997 book. He wrote "never say no to a Nelson". I'll post some pics of my pelican later this weekend. Thanks again for the...

    Bonsai from the Wild

Bill, if you don't mind me asking, where in Western Mass are you? I grew up in Southampton, near Nothampton, Springfield, Holyoke. If you're in the Berkshires I'm very jealous.

    Wisteria

Tom, Lindsey wrote that last reply, not me. I've tried to explain these things but they're not being absorbed and processed. Hopefully she'll read you response and reconsider. If not, as much as I hate to see anything loose its life, she'll learn a valuable lesson for $9 plus tax. Thanks for trying.

    Look what I found

It caught my eye in the woods because it looks almost exactly like some piece I saw on one of the Nick Lenz sites you guys recommended. I'm just going to practice carving, torching, wire brushing and lime sulfering w/ different shade of gray.

    Wisteria

Hi, Bride to be over here. You do not understand, I have 2 large windows and very tall. I have ample officespace and will mist the thing all the time as well as cut back these ivy looking arms. All I want is the Wisteria to hang down in perfect flower trendals and be happy. Can this be...

    Frustrating day

I found the same thing at Borders here in w'chester NY. They have 20 books on growing pot and 1 book on bonsai and 1 of those kit thingys.

    Wisteria

I love a challenge that requires even more homework than I already have. The "bio-dome" comment was great. Lol. If you knew Lindsey you would imagine "Little Shop of Horrors".

    Look what I found

I found this behind my client's house this morning. Nick Lenz has a piece very similar. See what you guys have done. You've created MORE of a monster.
