    Bonsai Terrarium Project

Cool idea! Did you use silicone or anything else to seal the terrarium around the bottom? If not, I would stick a cork mat or something similar under it, to avoid damaging your desktop. Heck, I would protect the desk even if I did seal the terrarium.

    The Bonsai Soil Argument

Great point. Try this next time - google "bonsai soil site:bonsainut.com" and see if you get even better results. </OT>

    Trident Renovation Project

Thank you so much for your careful presentation of the process. Very informative!

    WTB Ficus (rough bark?)

The owner of that tree has previously posted on FB that they had the rough bark appear spontaneously on one out of a batch of f. microcarpa they grew from seed. If you can't get a cutting from that exact tree then your only hope seems to be planting a bunch of your own seeds and hoping for a...

    More big elms

Nice save! I see a spooky face in the carving.

    Constant fear of overwatering

It is one of those questions that is easy to worry about, much less easy to answer. Someday I might spend a weekend weighing one of my least favorite bonsai hourly after a single watering. My thinking is that the change in weight (from transpiration/evaporation) is likely to start leveling off...

    Maintenance clip and grow salicifolia

You are probably right about that. My ADHD sometimes makes it hard to envision either the future or the past, so I think I can blame my less sunny view on it.

    Willow leaf f. Cutting

Funny enough, I think I like this one even better than its larger sibling. Looking awesome!

    Maintenance clip and grow salicifolia

I am trying to make up my mind on whether clip and grow works for this species. It just seems to take so long to see progress! Most of the time, it just feels like one step forward, two steps back. Gutsy move removing that thick sub-branch, by the way! I think you will be happy with the choice...

    Ficus Benjamina “wiandi”

Wow! Great choice of pot, Danny. It takes the tree to the next level.

    Repotted Jade

I may be wrong, but having owned both I feel almost certain @Devilrocker's plant is some variety of c. ovata. The leaf shape and growth habit, among other things, are different. There are cultivars of c. ovata that have quite compact growth. Everything else you've said strikes me as right. I...

    Wallace Cork Bark Elm

My big cork bark elm killed off a bottom branch this year. The branch was a bit weak anyway, so it wasn't entirely unexpected, but it was disappointing. Anyway, I have heard that these trees in particular will pull resources from lower branches if you let the top get too strong. That is...

    Red Maple Cuttings in progress

What a great and obscure phrase. I never knew.
