    Maple seedling varieties

rockm is completely right. I just couldn't put all of that into words. :) And I should have known that you collected. If you had so much seed, you must have gotten fresh! What are your plans for these interesting ones? I really am interested in the future of that short and stubby one--it...

    Maple seedling varieties

Those seedlings look amazing! I am a maple lover (username!) and am very jealous. Especially of the second picture--treasure that one and take good care of it! The Bloodgood seedling having laceleaf characteristics is probably because the pollen parent was a laceleaf and that particular seed...

    A tricky test ;-)

One of the pictures is of new growth. The other one is a picture of older leaves that have leaf burn (pretty bad, too!). Is that it????

    Have you ever seen this?

it seems as though this is shoot is a young, juvenile shoot that's trying to be a mature shoot at the same time. It has characteristics of both; the single lower needle is thinner than the mature needles with the fascicle on the other two.

Black Pines: Which produces the best bark?

Brian, Your 'Brocade' looks very healthy. It makes me want to get one from Brent! I have a feeling that i'll be getting some of his famous pine grafts within the next year or two...keep us posted on this tree. I don't think that you'll have a problem getting this one to backbud!

    My JRP.........

Looks very natural. I love the shape and balance of this tree. Look forward to seeing it develop over the years! This is one JRP that I would be willing to own; I haven't seen too many that look very promising.

    Korean Hornbeam (Carpinus coreana)

Hey Brian, Does this Brussels place have a website? I'd like to look into one of those. As for Bonsai West, those sound a little too developed for me (yes I know, crazy on my part) but I'd like to see one of these develop from the get-go, or something close. Paired with the fact that I'm 15...

    a mistake in side grafting

Nice job on the successes, and you learned from your mistake. Furthermore, you posted it for all to see so other will not (hopefully) make the same mistake. Do you know what cultivar of Cork bark BP you have?

    Shore Pine Literati Design help

I recommend that you see Walter Pall's website for these matter (walter-pall.de). He has countless yamadori and knows exactly how to take care of them. I second Walt's opinion and would say to just leave it alone for at least a year or two, or until you get really nice healthy candles that...
