    Bonsai Buddies

here is my buddy, He was a stray who narrowly escaped the grasp of the dog catcher who chased him up and down our yard for what seemed to be an hour. We ended up keeping him and apropriately named him "Lucky". I believe he is a full blooded mutt:D Mo

    Shohin Crape--Freshly potted.

NEW cascade branch. Great crape Ryan, I noticed the leaves were cut in half, is that to train the leaves to grow smaller or to give the apearance of small leaves untill one can train the tree to grow small leaves. I've heard the cut leaves will actualy heal into smaller leaves. Does it really...

    small crape myrtle

Nice crape, I'm a big fan of crapes myself and every time i hunt for nursery stock I do not find one with a great root system as that one. I would apply more soil medium to fill in those nebari voids but keep those roots exposed, afterall you have a very desireable root system. Let the roots get...

strange growths on my trees (help)

I think those pests are harmless to the plant but they can attract other potentialy harmful pests to your trees and I think they are life threatening to puppies. It's a good thing you removed them, LOL. Happy Easter! Mo

I have used candle wax before on wounds, don't know if it made much of a difference in healing but I use it to prevent those little bug pests from getting to...

    Hello

Thanks Brian, Rockm and Irene. I do see what you are talking about. There was no urgent reason to defoliate my boxwood other than to create a fuller branch system. But now that spring is nearing us here in texas, I can see new leaf growth emerging and I have decided to take your advice and not...

    Hello

Thanks Rockm, I think I will wait untill spring to see the new shoots and make a decision of prunning then. it is only 14" tall and not a huge job to prune. I don't think I will completely defoliate the box only as needed mainly becouse I am scared of harming the tree. Thanks. Mo

    Hello

Thanks for the advice Buddhamonk. I thought the same thing too , but I looked up some pictures of older well established boxwood bonsai and I noticed the leaves were smaller than the ones on my tree and the only thing I can think of was that they were periodicaly defoliated. PaulH, Thanks for...
