I feed the most heavily in spring and fall. I use Brian Van Fleet's recipe for organic fertilizer. For my tropicals, which come indoors, I use osmocote. I haven't been as happy with the results, but I don't want to smell organic fertilizer in the house.

That's what I use. Took me a while to figure out that I had to ask for "vulcanite" and not pumice when I called the hydro shops. Most of them don't use the same terminology that we do. Great product, however.

Looking over my pine seedlings this morning and found this. It is just on the one tree and it wasn’t there yesterday. What is it?

No dormancy needed, but they do need to be brought inside in the winter, and they can be fussy about it. I don't leave them outside once the temps are consistently below 60 degrees F.

They all look like procumbens nana to me. Keep them outside year round:)

I put them out in early March and they germinated in early April. Temperature will probably play a role in your results.

Yes. I had good luck with decomposed pine bark. Once they germinated I cut the taproot and moved them into a sand core inside of my standard soil mix as Jonas shows on his blog with his JBPs
