Wood boxes are the way to go. Cheap to build with redwood or cedar fence boards. good drainage between bottom slats.
Stay much cooler in summer than ceramic pots. Easy to place guy wires with screws in the wood.
I love my Kiyohimes. They are almost automatic bonsai with short internodes and small leaves. I've got a couple I developed from pre bonsai from Ed Clark.
