    Looking for ficus advice

I finally got around to starting the graft on the large wound today. I have been redirecting one of the branches with a wire for awhile now. I roughed up the existing channel at the side of the big wound as well as the underside of the branch. I pressed a modified staple in place with needle...

    Proper Lights?

I run something similar, a 45w equivalent with red and blue LEDs. I can't fit many plants under it, but the ones there respond pretty well.

    Chinese Banyan Dropping Leaves/Yellowing

I agree with Coh, seems likely to be stress related. And if the soil isn't great you're more likely to over water than under water.

    What to do about portulacaria

I haven't been doing too much with this portulacaria; wired down some branches to try to get them all relatively flat. Still not getting much density though.

    Schefflera progress

Roots are really taking off, I'm planning to start one of these guys as a root over rock soon.

    Looking for ficus advice

And for reference here is the top, still doing great. It's grown a lot since the chop and I feel like I should shorten some of the limbs soon and try to promote growth further in. In addition, I'm not sure what to do with the crown of the trunk. The original grower didn't thin the limbs out...

    Looking for ficus advice

Ok, here's an update of how the chopped base looks now. In the photo with the closeup you'll see a little notch in top where the chop is; that is from a knot where a limb was previously. Just to the left of it is the largest branch and a smaller branch coming from the same node. I've been...

    I call this schefflera "Monster"

I recently started growing some cuttings in tall narrow tubes with the intent of getting long roots for ROR and "dragon" style material.

    Looking for ficus advice

I'm now two weeks of from the separation. The top has done really well; a minority of the bud tips extant at the time of the chop failed. But, most of the young growth continued developing and none of the foliage has looked stressed. The other good news is that I noticed a first bud popping on...

    Schefflera progress

I took a few cuttings from this schefflera for some new plants recently. It's the first time I've really had success getting cuttings to grow. I had them all together in one pot, but after putting on a couple of leaves I decided to put them in this setup to encourage long roots I can use later...

    Indoor Bonsai

I got the Erligpowht 45w red blue light. I think they make a 60w also. If I were to buy another I might buy the higher wattage one.

    Indoor Bonsai

I really don't have the space for large grow lights, but have been using one of the small foot square LEDs available on amazon. I've had my ficus close under it for quite a while now and it's done better this summer than ever before in terms of growth. I tried light meter apps for a while but...

    Looking for ficus advice

In addition to the new orientation with the top, I'm left with this base. I'm planning to recess the bare wood some then put cut paste on it. However, I'm wondering if others with more experience with chops might give me advice. Should I leave the cut where it is, or cut some more to change the...

    Looking for ficus advice

Ok, I let it go a little more than a week since I first started seeing roots and they really took off. Roots were starting to find their way out of the bottom of the plastic bag. So, I did the chop this morning. Attached you'll see some photos take during the process. I decided to try to tease...
