I run something similar, a 45w equivalent with red and blue LEDs. I can't fit many plants under it, but the ones there respond pretty well.

I agree with Coh, seems likely to be stress related. And if the soil isn't great you're more likely to over water than under water.

I haven't been doing too much with this portulacaria; wired down some branches to try to get them all relatively flat. Still not getting much density though.

Roots are really taking off, I'm planning to start one of these guys as a root over rock soon.

And for reference here is the top, still doing great. It's grown a lot since the chop and I feel like I should shorten some of the limbs soon and try to promote growth further in. In addition, I'm not sure what to do with the crown of the trunk. The original grower didn't thin the limbs out...
