if your willing to make the drive theres House of Bonsai in lakewood they have LOTS of pre bonsai juniper material
I dont have a lot of dirt space to put a tree in the ground to thicken it up. Is there a formula or something i can use for using grow boxes or nursery pots, like is it better to go more wide than deep or vice versa?
if you want your trunk to get bigger its best to just stick it in the ground and let it grow acouple of seasons and chop it and repeat.
for you leaves that looks like sun burn to me maples are very sensitive its best to make sure they have morning sun and afternoon shade.
Chikugo is a really nice place kinda small but he has awesome trees... look out for his bear he keeps in the front its one of the biggest damn dogs I've ever seen...
House of Bonsai is a giant lot with a lot nice bonsai and good sized Juniper material...
thank you stacy for you input do you think the curvature of the trunk was caused by constant scarring or is there a cut or something im not seeing... or what would you suggest to get that much movement out of a telephone pole
Thanks for all the responses...
I'm just trying to get a better understanding of how this works before I start attacking any trees... So after the shari is made the cambium slowly swells around the wound now when the trunk gets bigger will it cause the tree to lean more to one side? or will it...
Could shari over time change the growth direction of my tree? Lets say I decide to carve a line in a 45 degree angle on the side of my trunk will that change its growth direction?
