Looking for Small red lava rock . . .

Yes I went to Depot and was told I’d have to sieve my own rock, which I have done in the past. Could not bring all my equipment ~ bonsai tools & some pots had to come but the sieving stuff got left behind. Have a verrry small deck space to work now. 🤨

Looking for Small red lava rock . . .

Hi Fellow Bonsai Enthusiasts ~ Had a large collection and was concentrating on Satsuki‘s. Divorced and had to sell it all last year and I’m now in the Portland area living with only a large 2nd story deck. 🤨 Have a small Satsuki left in need of a repot. Am looking for small red lava rock...

    Damn summer vacations

I am SO sorry this happened to you. I, too, have issues with leaving my many plants that I have loved and labored over. Even hubby does not do a good job (sorry honey). Am trying to pair down quite a bit. Tried to teach neighborhood kids to water but. . . not a good solution. Really need...

Suggestion: Requiring location info when registering

Where Are You? Zone ??? I have been looking for folks who live near me. Because, our weather would be the same, and possibly events could be posted/shared if one wants to attend. That is the ONLY reason I feel we would need location info. At the very least, post the Zone you are in, or have...

What was the best bonsai/tree related advice you have been given?

Best Advice snippet ~ Offer your free, consistant help with Bonsai work to someone who has more experience. They get a worker bee, and you learn a ton! And gain a friend! Once you get a new plant, win an auction, whatever, get it into your own soil quickly! I have been burned by leaving a...

    Contorted Japanese Flowering Apricot

2nd flower flush ~ gorgeous! Thank you FredTruck for posting such a beautiful pic of your ume. To me it looks like a quince but I think you said it was a flowering apricot contorta. I have a small one and am going to attempt to make it as ramified as you have done - very, very impressive...

Flowering Apricot Contorta ~ beautiful! Hi FredTruck - I just bought a flowering apricot contorta - but rather small compared to yours. Am really impressed with the changes you have done from receiving this wonderful gift to the obvious hard work you have done - you should be very proud of...

    drastic weather changes

Reefer Freezer? Cold greenhouse? Hi - Thank you for keeping the thread on temperature for our trees going. Sorry I am such a novice in this area, but am unaware of a 'reefer freezer' and a 'cold greenhouse'. Am in California maybe that is why, but still wish to know what these things are...

    Frost Protection?

Getting dangerously cold here in Rohnert Park, CA. Have covered my potted bonsai (satsuki azaleas, bougys, elms, boxwood, pomegranate, plum, conifers, etc) with cotton Kingsize sheets over a rope (like a tent). They are on benches with two shelves. They are under an arbor of 50/50 sunfabric...

    Another Cascade Azalea

Satsukis/onebloom/better ram. . . .I had no idea. . .. . . I wouldn't let it flower for 4 or 5 years. Just leave one bud if you want to see it bloom. Ramification and growth should be the priority. Then when the structure is in place you will be blown away when it does bloom. Whoa - I...
