Per Khaimraj Seepersad's (iBonsai) kind suggestion and wonderful sketch below I have slanted and repotted my bonsai in a shallower pot... the left oversized exposed root has been removed and I have also began a gradual limb pull down via a guide-wire.
Thank you. I feed it a lot of Vitamin B-1 + Hormone root shock stimulant when it was young and after each and every repotting. I slowly began to expose the nebari and lower trunk by raising the tree up at every re-potting. The exposed roots seem to like to swell up on ficus here in humid...
Pardon my ignorance but are you suggesting "air layering" more for the top portion of my tree or to restart/correct growth from the existing trunk and exposed roots?
Thanks Dorothy. Any training suggestions? What do you think about the exposed jinned root on the right of the tree (your left)? Appreciate any/all feedback. Have a wonderful day.
A few more pics of the trunk and roots fro your kind review.
It has been advised to cut off the exposed jinned root (as it is too big for the tree) and to angle the left side root cut even further for an improved taper. Below are the suggested cuts and repairs in red:
I concur with Dorothy. There are two varieties and the second one is known as a Green Island Mound... it has a pointed leaf with a rougher bark texture and produces no figs. It grows much faster than the rounded Green Island ficus and has more unruly aerial roots.
